언제나 변함없이

1986년 1월 28일, 미국 우주왕복선 챌린저호가 이륙 후 73초 만에 산산조각이 났습니다. 레이건 대통령은 국민을 위로하는 연설에서 제2차 세계대전 당시의 조종사였던 존 길레스피 매기의 시 “고공비행”을 인용했습니다. 그 시에서 존은 “아무도 침범하지 못한 높이에 있는 우주의 신성함”과 “하나님의 얼굴”을 만지기 위해 손을 내미는 느낌을 표현했습니다.

우리는 실제로 하나님의 얼굴을 만질 수는 없지만, 때로는 눈부시도록 아름다운 일몰이나 자연 속 명상의 장소에서 하나님이 옆에 계신다는 놀라운 느낌을 경험합니다. 어떤 사람들은 이 순간들을 “얇은 곳”이라고 부릅니다. 천국과 세상을 분리하는 장벽이 더 얇아져 가는 것처럼 보이면서, ‘하나님이 좀 더 가까이 느껴집니다.’

이스라엘 백성들은 광야 생활에서 하나님이 가까이 계심을 느꼈을 때 “얇은 곳”을 경험했을 것입니다. 하나님은 광야에서 그들을 인도하시기 위해 낮에는 구름 기둥을, 밤에는 불기둥을 주셨습니다(출애굽기 40:34-38). 그들이 진을 치고 머무를 때에는 “여호와의 영광이 성막에 충만했습니다”(35절). 그들의 모든 여정에 하나님이 함께하심을 그들은 알았습니다.

하나님이 창조하신 놀라운 아름다움을 즐기면서, 우리는 하나님은 어디에나 계심을 점점 깨닫게 됩니다. 기도로 하나님께 말하고 들으면서, 그리고 성경을 읽으면서, 우리는 언제 어디서나 즐거이 하나님과 교제할 수 있습니다.

THROUGH THICK AND THIN

On January 28, 1986, the US Space Shuttle Challenger broke apart seventy-three seconds after takeoff. In a speech of comfort to the nation, President Reagan quoted from the poem “High Flight” in which John Gillespie Magee, a World War II pilot, had written of “the high untrespassed sanctity of space” and the sense of putting out his hand to touch “the face of God.”

Although we can’t literally touch God’s face, we sometimes experience a stunning sunset or a place of meditation in nature that gives us an overwhelming sense that He’s near. Some people call these moments “thin places.” The barrier separating heaven and earth seems to grow a little thinner. God feels a little closer.

The Israelites may have experienced a “thin place” as they sensed the nearness of God in the desert wilderness. God provided a pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night to lead them through the desert (EXODUS 40:34–38). When they were staying in the camp, “the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle” (V. 35). Throughout all their travels, they knew God was with them.

As we enjoy the incredible beauty of God’s creation, we grow conscious that He’s present everywhere. As we talk with Him in prayer, listen to Him, and read the Scriptures, we can enjoy fellowship with Him anytime and anywhere. CINDY HESS KASPER

맞습니다. 친구가 중요합니다. 그러나 그리스도 안에서의 친구는 참되고 깊은 기쁨을 만들어내는 촉매제입니다. 그 무엇보다도 하나님의 은혜가 우리를 같이 묶어줍니다. 삶의 가장 어두운 시기를 지날 때라도 그 결속에서 오는 기쁨은 영원히 지속될 것입니다.

COMPANIONS IN CHRIST

The Harvard Study of Adult Development is a decades-long project that’s resulted in a greater understanding of the importance of healthy relationships. The research began with a group of 268 sophomores at Harvard University in the 1930s and later expanded to, among others, 456 Boston inner-city residents. Researchers have conducted interviews with the participants and pored over their medical records every few years. They discovered that close relationships are the biggest factor in predicting happiness and health. It turns out that if we surround ourselves with the right people, we’ll likely experience a deeper sense of joy.

This appears to reflect what the apostle Paul is describing in Philippians 1. Writing from prison, Paul can’t help but tell his friends that he thanks God for them every time he remembers them, praying “with joy” (V. 4). But these aren’t just any friends; these are brothers and sisters in Jesus who “share in God’s grace,” partners in the gospel with Paul (V. 7). Their relationship was one of sharing and mutuality—a true fellowship shaped by God’s love and the gospel itself.

Yes, friends are important, but fellow companions in Christ are catalysts of a true and deep joy. The grace of God can bind us together like nothing else. And even through the darkest seasons of life, the joy that comes from that bond will last. GLENN PACK

진리에 단단히 매인

우리 가족은 멋있는 문양으로 장식된 석고벽을 포함하여 많은 특징들이 있는 거의 백 년 된 집에 살고 있습니다. 한 건축업자는 이 집 벽에 액자를 걸려면 나무 받침에 나사 못을 박든지 받침용 석고 지주를 사용해야 한다고 주의를 주었습니다. 그렇지 않으면 액자가 바닥에 떨어져 부서지고 벽에도 보기 흉한 구멍이 남을 위험이 있다고 했습니다.

ANCHORED IN TRUTH

My family lives in a nearly century-old house with a lot of character, including wonderfully textured plaster walls. A builder cautioned me that with these walls, to hang a picture I’d have to either drill the nail into a wood support or use a plaster anchor for support. Otherwise, I’d risk the picture crashing to the ground, leaving an ugly hole behind.

The prophet Isaiah used the imagery of a nail driven firmly into a wall to describe a minor biblical character named Eliakim. Unlike the corrupt official Shebna (ISAIAH 22:15–19), as well as the people of Israel—who looked to themselves for strength (VV. 8–11)—Eliakim trusted in God. Prophesying Eliakim’s promotion to palace administrator for King Hezekiah, Isaiah wrote that Eliakim would be driven like a “peg into a firm place” (V. 23). Being securely anchored in God’s truth and grace would also allow Eliakim to be a support for his family and his people (VV. 22–24).

Yet Isaiah concluded this prophecy with a sobering reminder that no person can be the ultimate security for friends or family— we all fail (V. 25). The only completely trustworthy anchor for our lives is Jesus (PSALM 62:5–6; MATTHEW 7:24). As we care for others and share their burdens, may we also point them to Him, the anchor who will never fail. LISA M. SAMRA

아버지는 옛 찬송가를 즐겨 부르셨습니다. “저 장미꽃 위에 이슬”도 아버지가 좋아하던 찬송 중의 하나였습니다. 몇 해 전 우리는 이 찬송가를 아버지의 장례식에서 불렀습니다. 후렴은 간단합니다. “주님 나와 동행을 하면서 나를 친구 삼으셨네. 우리 서로 받은 그 기쁨은 알 사람이 없도다.” 이 찬송가는 아버지에게 기쁨을 가져다주었고 나에게도 기쁨을 줍니다.

IN THE GARDEN

My dad loved to sing the old hymns. One of his favorites was “In the Garden.” A few years back, we sang it at his funeral. The chorus is simple: “And He walks with me, and He talks with me, and He tells me I am His own, and the joy we share as we tarry there none other has ever known.” That song brought joy to my dad—as it does to me.

Hymn writer C. Austin Miles says he wrote this song in spring 1912 after reading chapter 20 of the gospel of John. “As I read it that day, I seemed to be part of the scene. I became a silent witness to that dramatic moment in Mary’s life when she knelt before her Lord and cried, ‘Rabboni [Teacher].’ ”

In John 20, we find Mary Magdalene weeping near Jesus’ empty tomb. There she met a man who asked why she was crying. Thinking it was the gardener, she spoke with the risen Savior—Jesus! Her sorrow turned to joy, and she ran to tell the disciples, “I have seen the Lord!” (V. 18).

We too have the assurance that Jesus is risen! He’s now in heaven with the Father, but He hasn’t left us on our own. Believers in Christ have His Spirit inside us, and through Him we have the assurance and joy of knowing He’s with us, and we are “His own.” ALYSON KIEDA

파도타기

남편이 바위로 덮인 해변을 따라 하와이의 수평선 풍경 사진을 찍는 동안 나는 큰 바위에 앉아 다시 찾아온 몸의 이상에 대해 걱정하였습니다. 집으로 돌아가면 그 문제들이 나를 기다리고 있겠지만, 그 순간만큼은 내 마음에 평화가 필요했습니다. 몰려오는 파도가 검고 삐죽삐죽한 바위들에 부딪히는 것을 바라보고 있는데, 파도의 곡선을 따라 한 검은 물체가 눈에 들어왔습니다. 카메라의 망원렌즈로 보니 그것은 발을 쭉 뻗은 채로 가만히 있으면서 평화롭게 파도를 타고 있는 바다거북이었습니다. 나는 얼굴을 돌려 바다 바람을 맞으며 미소를 지었습니다.

“하늘이 주의 놀라운 일을 찬양합니다”(시편 89:5, 현대인의 성경). 우리의 비할 데 없는 하나님은 “바다의 파도를 다스리시며 그 파도가 일어날 때에 [하나님이] 잔잔하게 하십니다”(9절). 하나님은 “세계와 그 가운데 있는 모든 것을 만드셨습니다”(11절, 현대인의 성경). 하나님은 그분의 영광과 우리의 기쁨을 위해 모든 것을 만드셨고, 모든 것을 소유하시고, 주관하시고, 그 모든 것에 목적을 부여하십니다.

RIDING THE WAVES

As my husband strolled down the rocky beach taking photos of the Hawaiian horizon, I sat on a large rock fretting over another medical setback. Though my problems would be waiting for me when I returned home, I needed peace in that moment. I stared at the incoming waves crashing against the black, jagged rocks. A dark shadow in the curve of the wave caught my eye. Using the zoom option on my camera, I identified the shape as a sea turtle riding the waves peacefully. Its flippers spread wide and still. Turning my face into the salty breeze, I smiled.

The “heavens praise [God’s] wonders” (PSALM 89:5). Our incomparable God rules “over the surging sea; when its waves mount up, [God] stills them” (V. 9). He “founded the world and all that is in it” (V. 11). He made it all, owns it all, manages it all, and purposes it all for His glory and our enjoyment.

Standing on the foundation of our faith—the love of our unchanging Father—we can “walk in the light of [His] presence” (V. 15). God remains mighty in power and merciful in His dealings with us. We can rejoice in His name all day long (V. 16). No matter what obstacles we face or how many setbacks we have to endure, God holds us as the waves rise and fall. XOCHITL DIXON

예수님이 지불하신 대가

예수님의 삶의 여러 측면을 탐구하고 있는 미켈란젤로의 작품들 중에 가장 가슴 아프면서도 가장 단순한 한 작품이 있습니다. 1540년대에 그는 친구 비토리아 콜로나를 위해 피에타(죽은 그리스도의 몸을 안고 있는 예수님의 어머니를 그린 그림)를 스케치했습니다. 분필로 그린 이 작품은 마리아가 움직이지 않는 아들을 무릎에 놓고서 하늘을 바라보는 모습을 그린 것입니다. 마리아의 뒤로 위를 향해 세워진 십자가 기둥에는 단테의 ‘신곡’의 ‘천국’편에 나오는 이런 말이 씌어 있습니다. “저들은 거기서 얼마나 많은 피가 대가로 치러졌는지를 생각하지 않는다.” 미켈란젤로가 말하고자 했던 요점은 아주 심오했습니다. 예수님의 죽음을 묵상할 때 우리는 주님이 지불하신 대가를 생각해야 한다는 것입니다.

그리스도께서 지불하신 대가는 주님이 돌아가시면서 선포하셨던, “다 이루었다”(요한복음 19:30)라는 말씀 속에 담겨 있습니다. “다 이루었다” (‘테텔레스타이’)라는 말은 여러 가지 의미로 사용되었습니다. 청구서가 완납되었다, 과제가 완수되었다, 희생 제물이 바쳐졌다, 걸작이 완성되었다 등과 같은 의미입니다. 그런데 이 하나하나가 모두 예수님께서 우리를 대신해서 십자가에서 하신 일입니다! 그래서 아마 바울 사도가 이렇게 쓴 것 같습니다. “그러나 내게는 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 십자가 외에 결코 자랑할 것이 없으니 그리스도로 말미암아 세상이 나를 대하여 십자가에 못 박히고 내가 또한 세상을 대하여 그러하니라”(갈라디아서 6:14).

예수님이 기꺼이 우리를 대신해 죽으신 것은 하나님께서 우리를 얼마나 사랑하시는지를 보여주는 영원한 증거입니다. 예수님이 지불하신 값을 깊이 생각하면서, 우리 모두 예수님의 사랑을 찬양하고 십자가로 말미암아 감사를 드릴 수 있기를 바랍니다.

THE COST

Michelangelo’s works explored many facets of the life of Jesus, yet one of the most poignant was also one of the most simple. In the 1540s he sketched a pieta (a picture of Jesus’ mother holding the body of the dead Christ) for his friend Vittoria Colonna. Done in chalk, the drawing depicts Mary looking to the heavens as she cradles her Son’s still form. Rising behind Mary, the upright beam of the cross carries these words from Dante’s Paradise, “There they don’t think of how much blood it costs.” Michelangelo’s point was profound: when we contemplate the death of Jesus, we must consider the price He paid.

The price paid by Christ is captured in His dying declaration, “It is finished” (JOHN 19:30). The term for “it is finished” (tetelestai) was used in several ways—to show a bill had been paid, a task finished, a sacrifice offered, a masterpiece completed. Each of them applies to what Jesus did on our behalf on the cross! Perhaps that’s why the apostle Paul wrote, “May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world” (GALATIANS 6:14).

Jesus’ willingness to take our place is the eternal evidence of how much God loves us. As we contemplate the price He paid, may we also celebrate His love—and give thanks for the cross. BILL CROWDER

기독교 라디오 방송국에 한 청취자가 전화하여 그의 아내가 수술이 끝나 퇴원해서 집으로 돌아온다고 말했습니다. 그러고 나서 내 마음에 깊이 와닿는 말을 했습니다. “그동안 교회 식구들이 모두 나서서 돌봐주신 것이 저희에게 큰 도움이 되었어요.”

이 간단한 말을 듣고 나는 그리스도인의 친절과 돌봄이 얼마나 가치 있고 필요한 것인지를 다시 되새기게 되었습니다. 나는 성도 간의 사랑과 도움이 삶을 변화시키는 복음의 능력을 보여주는 가장 좋은 방법 중의 하나라는 생각이 들기 시작했습니다.

베드로전서는 베드로 사도가 지금의 터키에 있는 초대 교회들이 서로 회람할 수 있도록 쓴 편지입니다. 편지에서 그는 그의 친구 바울이 로마서 12장 13절에 “손 대접하기를 힘쓰라”고 썼던 것과 같이, 그의 글을 읽는 신자들에게 그와 같은 일을 하라고 강권했습니다. 베드로는 “뜨겁게 서로 사랑할지니......서로 대접하라”고 하면서, 하나님께서 주신 은사를 사용하여 “서로 봉사하라” 고 말했습니다(베드로전서 4:8-10). 바울과 베드로의 말은 예수님을 믿는 모든 사람들이 서로를 어떻게 대해야 하는지를 분명히 보여줍니다.

“SO HELPFUL”

The caller to the Christian radio station said that his wife was coming home from the hospital following surgery. Then he shared something that spoke deeply to my heart: “Everyone in our church family has been so helpful in taking care of us during this time.”

When I heard this simple statement, it reminded me of the value and necessity of Christian hospitality and care. I began to think that the love and support of fellow believers for one another is one of the greatest ways to demonstrate the lifechanging power of the gospel.

In First Peter, the apostle was writing a letter to be circulated among the first-century churches in what’s now the country of Turkey. In that letter, he compelled his readers to do something that his friend Paul wrote about in Romans 12:13: “Practice hospitality.” Peter said, “Love each other deeply . . . offer hospitality,” and he told them to use the gifts God gave them to “serve others” (1 PETER 4:8–10). These are clear directions to all believers in Jesus for how we’re to treat fellow believers.

All of us know people like that caller’s wife—those who need someone to come alongside and show concern and Christlike love. In God’s strength, may we be among the ones who are noted for being “so helpful.” DAVE BRANON

현명한 잡초 제거

손자 손녀들이 뒷마당에서 뛰어다니고 있습니다. 놀이를 하는 중이냐고요? 아닙니다. 잡초를 뽑는 중입니다. “뿌리까지 다 뽑았어요!” 막내 손녀가 두 손 가득히 보여줍니다. 그날 우리가 잡초와 씨름하며 무성한 잡초를 뿌리째 뽑으면서 성가신 골칫거리를 하나씩 제거하는 일을 즐겁게 하면서
손녀는 아주 기뻐했습니다. 하지만 그 기쁨을 맛보려면 잡초를 찾아다니겠다는 마음이 먼저입니다.

마음을 먹고 잡초를 제거하는 일은 개인의 죄를 없애는 첫 단계이기도 합니다. 그래서 다윗은 이렇게 기도했습니다. “하나님이여 나를 살피사 내 마음을 아시며...... 내게 무슨 악한 행위가 있나 보시고” (시편 139:23-24).

하나님께 우리의 죄를 보여 달라고 구하면서 죄를 찾아다니는 것이 얼마나 현명한 방법인지 모릅니다. 무엇보다 하나님은 우리의 모든 것을 알고 계십니다. 시편 기자는 이렇게 썼습니다. “여호와여 주께서 나를 살펴보셨으므로 나를 아시나이다 주께서 내가 앉고 일어섬을 아시고 멀리서도 나의 생각을 밝히 아시오며” (1-2절).

다윗은 이어서 말합니다. “이 지식이 내게 너무 기이하니 높아서 내가 능히 미치지 못하나이다” (6절) . 그러므로 죄가 뿌리내리기 전에 하나님이 우리에게 그 위험을 미리 알려 주실 수 있습니다. 하나님은 우리를 둘러싼 ‘풍경’을 알고 계시기 때문에, 죄가 은밀히 뿌리를 내리려 할 때 가장 먼저 아시고
알려 주십니다.

WISELY WEEDING

My grandchildren are running around my backyard. Playing games? No, pulling weeds. “Pulling them up by the roots!” the youngest says, showing me a hefty prize. Her delight as we tackled weeds that day was how much we enjoyed plucking the weedy roots—clearing away each pesky menace. Before the joy, however, came the choice to go after them.

Intentional weeding is also the first step in removing personal sin. Thus, David prayed: “Search me, God, and know my heart. . . . See if there is any offensive way in me (PSALM 139:23–24).

What a wise approach, to go after our sin by asking God to show it to us. He above all knows everything about us. “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me,” wrote the psalmist. “You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar” (VV. 1–2).

“Such knowledge,” David added, “is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain” (V. 6) . Even before a sin takes root, therefore, God can alert us to the danger. He knows our “landscape.” So when a sneaky sinful attitude tries to take root, He’s first to know and point it out.

“Where can I go from your Spirit,” wrote David. “Where can I flee from your presence?” (V. 7) . May we closely follow our Savior to higher ground!

코 베기

“동상들의 코가 왜 훼손되어 있나요?” 브룩클린 박물관의 이집트 미술 큐레이터인 에드워드 블레이버그에게 관람객들이 제일 많이 하는 질문입니다.

블레이버그도 정상적인 마모로 없어지는 것은 어쩔 수 없다고 생각합니다. 심지어 2차원으로 그려진 그림에서도 코가 없어지니 말입니다. 그러나 그는 동상의 코들이 고의로 손상되었을 것으로 추측합니다. 적들은 이집트의 신들을 죽일려고 했습니다. 그것은 마치 신들과 “코 베기” 게임을 하는 것과 같습니다. 침략한 군대가 이 우상들이 숨을 쉬지 못하도록 코를 잘라냈던 것입니다.

‘정말 그랬을까요? 모두 다 그래서 잘라낸 것일까요?’ 코 떨어진 신들과 함께 있다면 파라오는 자신이 곤경에 처해 있음을 알았을 것입니다. 물론 그에게는 군대와 충성스러운 백성들이 있었습니다. 이에 비하면 히브리 민족은 소심한 도망자였던 모세가 이끄는 무기력한 노예들이었습니다. 하지만
이스라엘에게는 살아 계신 하나님이 있었고, 파라오의 신들은 가짜였습니다. 열 번의 재앙을 겪은 후 상상 속에만 있던 그 신들의 삶은 완전히 끝나 버렸습니다.

이스라엘 사람들은 일주일 동안 누룩 없는 빵을 먹는 무교절 (출애굽기 12:17; 13:7-9) 을 지키며 그들의 승리를 축하했습니다. 누룩은 죄를 상징합니다. 그리고 하나님은 그의 백성들이 그들의 구원받은 삶이 전적으로 하나님께 속해 있음을 기억하기를 바라셨습니다.

우리 하나님 아버지는 우상들에게 “네 코를 베었다”라고 하시고, 그의 자녀들에게는 “네 삶을 가졌다”라고 말씀하십니다. 우리를 숨 쉬게 해주시는 하나님을 섬기고 그분의 사랑의 품 안에서 안식하십시오.

GOT YOUR NOSE

“Why are the statues’ noses broken?” That’s the number one question visitors ask Edward Bleiberg, curator of Egyptian art at the Brooklyn Museum.

Bleiberg can’t blame it on normal wear and tear; even two-dimensional painted figures are missing noses. He surmises that such destruction must have been intentional. Enemies meant to kill Egypt’s gods. It’s as if they were playing a game of “got your nose” with them. Invading armies broke off the noses of these idols so they couldn’t breathe.

Really? That’s all it took? With gods like these, Pharaoh should have known he was in trouble. Yes, he had an army and the allegiance of a whole nation. The Hebrews were weary slaves led by a timid fugitive named Moses. But Israel had the living God, and Pharaoh’s gods were pretenders. Ten plagues later, their imaginary lives were snuffed out.

Israel celebrated their victory with the Festival of Unleavened Bread, when they ate bread without yeast for a week (EXODUS 12:17; 13:7–9) . Yeast symbolizes sin, and God wanted His people to remember their rescued lives belong entirely to Him.

Our Father says to idols, “Got your nose,” and to His children, “Got your life.” Serve the God who gives you breath, and rest in His loving arms.

하나님과 함께 싸우는 전투

2016년에 나온 영화 ‘핵소 고지’는 미국 병사 데스먼드 도스의 영웅적인 행동을 보여줍니다. 도스는 그의 신념 때문에 남의 생명을 죽이는 일은 안 하면서도, 육군 의무병으로서 죽음을 무릅쓰고 전우의 생명을 구하기 위해 헌신했습니다. 1945년 10월 12일에 있었던 도스의 명예훈장 수여식에서 낭독된 내용의 일부입니다. “도스 일병은 피할 곳을 찾아 숨으려 하지 않고 오히려 불에 휩싸인 전투지역에 남아 부상당한 전우들을 한 사람씩 절벽의 가장자리로 옮겼다...... 그는 한 포병 장교를 돕기 위해서도 적의 포격과 소총 사격에 주저하지 않고 용감히 맞섰다.”

시편 11편에서 다윗은 하나님이 자신의 피난처라는 확신 아래, 적과 맞서지 말고 도망가라는 부하들의 제안을 뿌리칩니다 (2-3절) . 그의 믿음의 고백은 이렇게 간단합니다. “내가 여호와께 피하였거늘” (1절) . 그처럼 잘 뿌리내린 신념이 그의 행동을 이끌어주었던 것입니다.

4-7절의 다윗의 고백은 하나님의 위대하심을 잘 말해줍니다. 그렇습니다. 삶은 간혹 전쟁터 같아서, 적의 사격으로 건강 문제나 경제적, 관계적, 영적인 스트레스가 퍼부어질 때 우리는 피할 곳을 찾아 흩어져버릴 수 있습니다. 그렇다면 우리는 어떻게 해야 할까요? 하나님이 우주의 왕이심을 인정하고

FACING THE BATTLES WITH GOD

The heroic deeds of US Army soldier Desmond Doss are featured in the 2016 movie Hacksaw Ridge. While Doss’ convictions wouldn’t allow him to take human life, as an army medic he committed himself to preserving life even at the risk of his own. The citation read at Doss’ Medal of Honor ceremony on October 12, 1945, included these words: “Private First Class Doss refused to seek cover and remained in the fire-swept area with the many stricken, carrying them one by one to the edge of the escarpment. . . . He unhesitatingly braved enemy shelling and small arms fire to assist an artillery officer.”

In Psalm 11, David’s conviction that his refuge was in God compelled him to resist suggestions to flee rather than face his foes (VV. 2–3) . Six simple words comprised his statement of faith: “In the Lord I take refuge” (V. 1) . That well-rooted conviction would guide his conduct.

David’s words in verses 4–7 amplified God’s greatness. Yes, life can sometimes be like a battlefield, and hostile fire can send us scattering for cover when we’re bombarded with health challenges or financial, relational, and spiritual stresses. So, what should we
do? Acknowledge that God is the king of the universe (V. 4) ; take delight in His amazing capacity to judge with precision (VV. 5–6) ; and rest in His delight in what’s right, fair, and equitable (V. 7) . We can run swiftly to God for shelter!
