당신의 믿음을 전하십시오
1701년 영국 교회는 전 세계에 선교사를 파송하기 위해 복음전도협회를 설립했습니다. 그들이 선택한 모토는 “이리로 와서 우리를 도우라!” 는 뜻의 라틴어 ’트랜지엔스 아디우바 노스’ 였습니다. 이 말은 1세기 이래로 복음의 사신들의 소명이 되어, 예수님을 따르는 사람들이 그분의 사랑과 용서의 메시지를 들고 이를 절실히 필요로 하는 세상에 복음을 전하게 했습니다
“이리로 와서 우리를 도우라”는 문구는 사도행전 16장에 묘사된 “마게도냐 사람의 요청”에 등장합니다. 바울 일행은 소아시아 서해안 (현재의 튀르키예, 8절)의 드로아에 도착했습니다. 그곳에서 “바울이 환상을 보았는데 어떤 마케도니아 사람이 서서 그에게 ‘마케도니아로 건너와 우리를 도와주십시오.’하고 간청하였습니다”(9절, 현대인의 성경). 그 환상을 보고 바울과 그의 동료들은 “곧 마게도냐로 떠나기를 힘썼습니다”(10절). 그들은 그 부르심의 중요성을 잘 알고 있었던 것입니다.
사람마다 누구나 바다를 건너도록 부름을 받는 것은 아니지만, 우리는 그렇게 하는 사람들을 기도와 재정으로 지원할 수 있습니다. 그리고 우리 모두는 사무실 건너편이나 길 건너편, 아니면 동네에 있는 누군가에게 예수님의 복음을 전할 수 있습니다. 좋으신 하나님께서 우리에게 능력 주셔서 우리가 건너가서 사람들에게 가장 큰 도움, 곧 예수님의 이름으로 용서받을 수 있는 기회를 줄 수 있게 해달라고 기도합시다.

SHARE YOUR FAITH
In 1701, the Church of England founded the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in order to send missionaries around the globe. The motto they chose was transiens adiuva nos—Latin for “Come over and help us!” This has been the call on gospel ambassadors since the first century, as followers of Jesus take the message of His love and forgiveness to a world in desperate need of it.
The phrase “come over and help us” comes from the “Macedonian call” described in Acts 16. Paul and his team had arrived at Troas on the west coast of Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey, v. 8). There, “Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, ‘Come over to Macedonia and help us’ ” (V. 9). Having received the vision, Paul and his companions “got ready at once to leave for Macedonia” (V. 10). They understood the vital
importance of the call.
Not everyone is called to cross the seas, but we can support those who do with our prayers and finances. And all of us can tell someone, whether across the room, the street, or the community, about the good news of Jesus. Let’s pray that our good God will enable us to cross over and give people the greatest help of all— the opportunity for forgiveness in Jesus’ name. - BILL CROWDER
